The Unfake Wedding of Kristen + Chad!

With a budget of $12,000 in Columbus, Ohio, I think that this DIY-heavy bride did a fantastic job! I love the bridesmaid dresses and her brooch bouquet was made with vintage goodies – all from her grandmother! Simply lovely.

Who was your favorite vendor and why?

Studio B Photography and Mark Dantzer. Studio B because she captured us PERFECTLY and Mark Dantzer because he rocked the reception. We could have danced all night!

Was there a “method to your madness” in choosing your vendors?

We wanted good vendors that would help showcase our style and help make the process smooth.

How long did you take to plan your wedding?

A solid year.

How many guests did you invite versus how many came?

We invited 190 and about 170 showed up.

What was your budget?

Around $12,000.

Did you include rings and/or the honeymoon in your budget?

Rings were included.

Were you over or under budget? By how much (you can give a percentage)?

We kept it right around budget.

How large was your bridal party?

4 groomsmen and 4 bridesmaids and one junior bridesmaid. We had three flower girls and one ring bearer.

Did you have favors for your guests?

If so, what were they? How much did you spend?

We had my Mom’s homemade Sugar Cookies. They are priceless.

Did you include any special family traditions?

None for our big day but hopefully we begin a tradition for our children by passing down my bouquet.

What was your biggest day-of crisis and how did you handle it (or rather, not handle?)?

Nothing was too big of a crisis. I decided two days before the wedding,  it just is what it is! I was tired of stressing.

What was you biggest wedding planning crisis and how did you handle it (or rather, not handle?)?

Making sure I had enough linens and food for the guests. We were worried a few people would show up last minute, but we worked it out the week before and everything was perfect.

What was the biggest waste of money that you loved?

What did you love that was the cheapest?

My jewelry and brooches for my bouquet. They were gifts.

What was the funniest thing that happened?

Our best man and maid of honor speeches. They had some good one-liners and stories.

What was the most ooey-gooey, tear-jerking moment?

When my Dad handed me off to Chad. He was supposed to whisper something funny in my ear but when he did he was crying.

Did you DIY? What parts?

YES!! I did everything. I made my flower girls halos (the oldest was the only one who would wear it), seating chart, center pieces, bouquet, wishing tree memory candles, programs and thank you cards.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We have one planned for September and somewhere warm!

If you could do it all over again, what would you change, if anything?

Longer Reception for sure!! We were having too much fun and didn’t want it to end!

Congratulations you two!
