Who was your favorite vendor and why?

BluEye Images- Lona was so fantastic in every way and helped me work within my budget. She helped keep me on course at the reception and all I had to do was have fun. Her work is creative and professional. She was amazing.

T30SB Commentary: I have yet to see an Unfake Wedding where the bride has NOT chosen their photographer as their favorite vendor. This is a great testimony to how important it is you click with your photographer.

Was there a “method to your madness” in choosing your vendors?

A balance of liking who/what we chose combined with our budget.

How long did you take to plan your wedding?

I was married within 4 months of our engagement. One thing we knew for sure was that Key West was where we wanted to get married!

How many guests did you invite versus how many came?

We invited about 70 and we had about 45 total.

T30SB Commentary: From what I understand of all the wedding statistics, this is actually a really high number for a desitnation wedding (over half attended). Goes to show, statistics don't mean squat.

What was your budget?

We did it ALL for around $15,000.

Did you include rings and/or the honeymoon in your budget?

That number does not include honeymoon or rings.

Were you over or under budget? By how much?

Since out budget was pretty aggressive for a destination wedding, I was able to plan for a little wiggle room if we needed it.

How large was your bridal party?

I only had one maid of honor and my husband had a best man.

Did you have favors for your guests? If so, what were they? How much did you spend?

Everyone received welcome goodie bags and a personal note from us upon arrival at the hotel. I would say each bag was about $10-15 total.

Did you include any special family traditions?

Nothing outstanding that I can think of although I did wear family diamonds as my accessories.

What was your biggest day-of crisis and how did you handle it (or rather, not handle?)?

Luckily, we didn’t have a crisis!

What was you biggest wedding planning crisis and how did you handle it (or rather, not handle?)?

The band was a bit of a challenge to book, but far from a crisis. I also got a tad stressed trying to pick the right size boat to take the guests out on Friday night before the wedding, but again no real crisis.

Who was the biggest pain in the ass on your wedding day?

No one! Everyone was great!

What was the biggest waste of money that you loved?

We didn’t waste any money, in my opinion. Everything was simple, chic…We let the scenery of the sunset and beach do our decorating.  Simple reception décor on the tables, etc.

What was the biggest waste of money that you wish you’d passed on?

I will say we had too much food on both nights.

What was the most unexpected thing that happened (not necessarily a bad thing, just a surprise)?

The top of our cake –the filling-- (which we cut first because we couldn’t take it with us) was not what I ordered! I was afraid for a second that the whole cake filling would be wrong. Then, I realized that that was not the case and now we had 2 flavors to choose from!

What was the most ooey-gooey, tear-jerking moment?

Well, the father daughter dance, which I thought would be upbeat/fun was a song my Dad and I used to dance to when I was a little girl. He had me step on his feet so he could move me around like he did when I was little, so it was pretty touching to all. He started crying and I couldn’t hold it in at that point.

Did you DIY? What parts?

Yes, I planned everything, but had a few helpers at the reception for the final details. I paid the Pier House to decorate chairs and reception venue so we could just relax with our families and friends, but that was about it.

Where did you go no your honeymoon?

We chartered a sailboat around the British Virgin Islands.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change, if anything?

Well, we knew it would be hot down there in the summer, but I would have just requested more of a breeze from Mother Nature on the wedding evening. Other than that, it was perfect!

Thanks so much to Paige and Frank for sharing their wedding with us!
