{Unfake Engagement Shoot!} Carnival Style, Y’all!

I consider myself a connosiour of roller coasters. I love rollers coasters like nobody’s business. I’d say that I have no fear when it comes to them, but that would be a lie. It’s more like I love the fear that comes with riding roller coasters. That anticipation when you’re going “click click click” up the incline and then the huge rush of adrenaline when you go screaming down the other side. Love it.

This past Sunday, The Candyman and I made a snap decision to go to Carowinds, a theme park just 45 minutes from our house. Though I hadn’t been there since 1978 with my Brownie Troop (GAWD, I am SO OLD!), I knew that it was going to be an awesome day. About the only good thing to come from Hurricane Irene? We had a crystal clear, sunny day (the winds had blown away all traces of summer haze and humidity) and no one was there. I think we had to wait in one line the whole day. It was awesome!

Now, I don’t know if its because I’m older or what, but I’ll tell you, I was SCARED on two of those rides. The first was innocuous enough: up and down, no hard twists or even any loops. Piece o’ cake. WRONG. It was so high and so fast and I was terrified. You know when they take a picture of you on the ride that you can buy afterwards? Yeah. My arms were stick straight, the veins were popping out in my neck, it looked like I was about to crap a diamond.

The second scary one actually looked really fun at first glance. I was all about The Night Hawk. I couldn’t really figure it out by watching it though. Were they going backwards the whole time? No. Upside down? No. Hm. I’ll let the park people describe it for you because I certainly can’t.

The Carolina's only flying coaster soars riders through eight inversions, most while flying facedown, zooming toward the ground and turning skyward just in time for the next inversion. The unique rider position offers breathtaking and virtually unobstructed views of the park.

Breathtaking my asshole. You’re reclined, moving in the direction of the back of your head so you have NO IDEA what’s coming. And when it goes upside down, you’re actually face down screaming towards the ground or the water or whatever. I think it’s the only ride I’ve ever been on where I was like, “Fuck, no. Get me off of this thing!” The Night Hawk was bullshit, my friends. You’ve been warned.

The great thing about the whole day though was spending some QT with The Candyman and blowing off some serious steam. We laughed until we cried more than once. Not just good times, GREAT times.

So I was tickled pink as cotton candy when this cute e-shoot showed up in my in-box! I thought it fitting to post on the tail end of  my own fun day at the park. I hope you like this as much as I do!

Unfake E-Shoot, San Francisco Style!

I just love couples where you can tell they are totally in love. What I love even more is a photographer who can catch those wonderful and intimate moments between couples. Seriously, go check out this photog's website when you get a chance because I think it's really good. And I'm not just saying that because I'm featuring it. I really do think he's good. So I hope you enjoy this engagement shoot. It just oozes love.

{Unfake Engagement Shoot} Corrine + Corey

Wouldn’t it be nice if it all went like this:

Happy childhood with loving parents. High school. College degree. Meet nice boy and simultaneously embark on fantastic career path. With relationship and career both on solid ground, marry, have children, retire in comfort.

Yes, indeed. Wouldn’t that be a bowlful of cherries? I think we all know it just doesn’t go down that way. Stuff happens. It happens to good people and bad people and everyone in-between. “Normal” really doesn’t exist these days and that’s why I’m loving this Unfake E-shoot, submitted by Autumn Cutaia Photography. It ain’t your normal, “Hi! We’re 20-something and in love and getting married!” Many times, there's a lot more involved. Check it out! Here’s what their photographer had to say about this particular shoot!

Corinne and Corey are a couple with spunk. They are completely head over heels for each other and our time spent included a lot of giggles. Corinne is from New York and Corey is from North Carolina and they just happened to meet. We decided to have a two part engagement session as their ceremony is more than just them, but a bonding of a family including Corinne's two year old son, Aiden. So for the first day we decided to cool off in the summer heat by heading over to Little Man Ice Cream in downtown Denver. The second day we had the whole family together, including little Aiden, and went to Dowdy Draw Trailhead overlooking the Flatirons of Boulder, Colorado. Their wedding will be next August at Green Briar Inn in Boulder, Colorado.

An Unfake E-Shoot, Katy + Simon

I do hope everyone had a nice, long holiday weekend! The Candyman and I spent it with friends eating too much grilled red meat and in my case, a little too much white wine….ugh. Some of you might be checking things out today and wondering about the new digs. Those of you who took a mental vacay on Friday, might now notice a few changes around here. Hope y’all like the how we redecorated.

Now, on to the goodies…..

For those of you unfamiliar with Northern Michigan, it really is a beautiful place to spend some time – as long as it’s between July and September! There are amazing summertime Michigan cherries. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a beautiful and not much publicized National Park. Of course there’s Lake Michigan, but there’s also a myriad of other simply stunning lakes scattered along Michigan’s coast. You know what else Northern Michigan has? The cutest couple EVER, Katy and Simon! Check out this fun e-shoot by Paul Retherford Photography!
