Its because he's got health issues. He needs another kidney surgery.

If he has health issues and couldn't really join the events then it is better that he forfeit the contest because it is a reality show and mostly people who have health problems are sent home. Well Jessica is a true idol I guess. Well we are all subject to our opinions.

His health didn't keep him from competing, it kept him from Ford commercials and photo shoots I think there's a difference.
