License to Wed

Yeah, I know it's totally gay (as in lame, nothing against our homosexual friends) to chronicle our lives on a blog, but hey, getting married for the first time is pretty exciting. You get to go sign official certificates and stuff. This part is truly fun for The Candyman. He's a lawyer and all and digs stuff like this. Plus, I think he likes to flirt with the ladies at the County Clerk's office!

Ah, The Candyman at The County Clerk's Office. Can I PLEASE have his weather on our wedding day? Thank you.

Two things: this outfit is way cuter in person and I will not ever be wearing that lipstick color again.

It's this way folks. I find it slightly ironic that you head in the same direction for both the marriage license and business tax departments.

I totally embarrassed The Candyman here! And is it just me, or does my arm look like it's the size of a ham hock?

First the groom signs.....

And then the bride!

Ta da! And $40 later, we're registered to be married! Just like that!

No...your arms look NOTHING like ham hocks!! Trust me - I've seen ham hocks!!
Congrats on the big official step. Aren't you happy you don't have to do the blood work thing any more before getting married? NO FUN!!

Yaaaaay! So exciting! I don't think we got to sign in a big official book. That's cool.

UNDER 10 DAYS GIRL!!!! Yipee! When we registered they gave us a bizarre goody bag with laundry detergent, deodarant and coupons to home depot. It was awkward!

I just wanted to let you know that I find your use of the word gay very offensive and have unsubscribed from your RSS feed. Equating gay with lame is unacceptable and perpetuates continued discrimination against members of the gay and lesbian community.

Jillian - sorry you feel so compelled. I supposed my pre-emptive caveat did not excuse me, in your opinion.

I am actually quite supportive of the homosexual community, regardless of whether they are lame or gay (as in happy, this time).

I actually don't believe that what I wrote perpetuates anything but a vernacular I choose to write in.

I believe those who know me, gay and straight, know that I am nothing more than a supportive and loyal friend to all. Some of these same people get irritated at me when I say "fuck" or "goddammit" too, but they know it's never at them or to them. It just makes them wince. When I am around these people, I try my best to curb my mouth. However, this is a personal blog and those, like you, who choose not to read for whatever reason, are free to come and go. I think my readers can make their own judgements.

As a general aside, I find it totally ironic that I get this comment less than week after I uploaded the White Knot Equality in Marriage widget.
